Fixed Asset Management,
Feature by Feature

Daily depreciation, seven report types, ready-to-post journal entries, role-based access, and a full audit trail — the complete list, in detail.

Daily Depreciation —
To the Exact Day

Most tools round to the nearest month. faManager counts the actual days — from acquisition date to your report end date — using exact day arithmetic.

On a $500,000 asset portfolio, monthly rounding can accumulate hundreds of dollars in discrepancies per year. Those discrepancies compound. faManager eliminates them at the source.

You can also run reports for any arbitrary date range — mid-month, mid-quarter, it doesn't matter. Your report reflects exactly what depreciated through that date, not a prorated approximation.

  • Daily Straight-Line depreciation
  • Daily Declining Balance depreciation
  • No Amortization option (land, art, held-for-sale)
  • Residual value capping — assets stop at their floor, automatically
  • Legacy asset import — bring in prior NBV and calculate forward from there
Exact Day Counts

Depreciation calculated using precise date arithmetic — not monthly periods, not annual rates divided by 12.

Any Date Range

Run a report for March 7 through October 19. faManager handles it without any special configuration.

Residual Value Capping

Set a salvage value on any asset. Depreciation stops there — no negative book values, no manual monitoring.

Period-Aware Calculations

Each report shows opening balance, current-period depreciation, and closing balance — all calculated to the day.

Daily Straight-Line
Acquisition Cost × (Annual Rate ÷ 365)

Same amount every day. Clean, predictable, and accurate to the cent.

Daily Declining Balance
NBV × (Annual Rate ÷ 365) per day

Each day recalculates from the prior day's ending balance. Heavier depreciation up front, tapering over time.

Everything from Day One to Disposal

Track the full lifecycle of every asset. Add it, edit it, copy it, split it, and when the time comes, dispose of it — with a proper journal entry generated automatically.

Full Asset Lifecycle

Create, edit, copy, split, dispose, and undo disposal. Every action is logged to the audit trail.

Categories with GL Codes

Assign depreciation defaults and GL account codes at the category level. Assets inherit them — you can override per asset.

Locations & Divisions

Organize assets by physical location or organizational division. Filter and report by location in any report.

Custom Fields

Add your own fields to any asset — text, date, number, checkbox, or dropdown — configured per company. The number of fields available scales with your plan.

Parent-Child Relationships

Link related assets together. Reports can roll up child assets under their parent with subtotals.

Asset Split

Divide one asset into multiple with proportional cost allocation. Preserves the acquisition date and depreciation method.

Notes & Attachments

Attach images, invoices, and documents to any asset. Add timestamped notes visible in the asset's history.

Quick Search

Find any asset by FA number, description, or serial number from anywhere in the app. Results appear as you type.

Seven Report Types, Any Date Range

faManager includes the seven report types that auditors and accountants actually ask for — not a long list of reports that mostly duplicate each other.

Every report runs on any date range you specify. Filter by category, location, status, or custom fields. Sort by any column. Export to CSV or PDF immediately.

GL Code Grouping

Entries are grouped by category and GL code, ready to post to your general ledger without any manual reorganization.

Export Ready

Export journal entries to CSV or PDF. The format mirrors what your accountant expects to see.

From Assets to General Ledger in Minutes

faManager generates journal entries for both periodic depreciation and disposals. You choose the period, review the entries, and export them — no manual calculation required.

Because faManager calculates depreciation to the exact day, the figures in your journal entries match your asset schedule to the cent. No reconciliation step needed.

Disposal entries calculate gain or loss automatically based on the disposal proceeds you enter and the accumulated depreciation at the disposal date.

One Company Never Sees Another's Data

Every company's data is fully isolated — assets, categories, locations, settings, and users. Invite your accountant or bookkeeper with their own login and role. Accounting firms managing multiple clients get multi-company access on the Firm plan.

Separate by Company

Every company has its own asset register, categories, locations, settings, and user list. Nothing bleeds between them.

Role-Based Access

Assign each user a specific role — Viewer, Editor, Admin, or Owner. Control exactly who can create, edit, dispose, or manage settings.

Firm Multi-Company

Accounting firms on the Firm plan manage multiple client companies from one dashboard — with instant switching and per-client billing.

No Cross-Company Leakage

Every database query is scoped to the active company. There is no path for one company's data to appear in another.

Per-Company Settings

Fiscal year dates, company profile, and custom field labels are configured independently per company.

Invitation System

Invite colleagues or clients by email. They choose their own password — you choose their role.

What each role can do

Capability Viewer Editor Admin Owner
View assets and run reports
Create and edit assets
Copy and split assets
Generate journal entries
Dispose assets
Manage categories and locations
Invite and manage users
Manage billing

How Your Data Is Protected

AES-256-GCM encryption at the application level, TOTP two-factor authentication, server-side role checks on every request, and hosting that never leaves Canada.

Two-Factor Authentication

TOTP-based 2FA compatible with Google Authenticator, Authy, and any standard authenticator app. Backup codes included.

AES-256-GCM Encryption

Sensitive data is encrypted at the application level before it reaches the database. Keys are stored separately from data.

Canadian Data Residency

All data is stored on servers in Canada. No cross-border transfer of your financial records.

PIPEDA Compliant

Data collection and handling follows the requirements of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

Full Audit Trail

Every action — create, edit, dispose, login — is logged with the user's name, timestamp, and the company context. Immutable records.

Role-Based Permissions

Four company roles with granular capability checks. Users only see and do what their role allows — enforced server-side on every request.

Session Idle Timeout

Sessions expire after inactivity. A warning appears before timeout so users aren't caught off guard mid-task.

Rate Limiting

Login attempts and registration are rate-limited per IP. Brute force attempts are blocked before they gain traction.
